  1. One of the greatest compliments to a widow is to ask her to pray! If God “certainly hears her cry” and He will establish her borders or territory….and you let her know that (Ex 22:23, Pro 15:25)…oh my, things happen! It gives her purpose and God honors His Word! What a blessing! (btw, She doesn’t give up either and will want to have updates and the progress!) It’s a untapped strategy that is so very needed!

    • Most of our widows are on our church’s prayer chain and we are honored to be such an exciting part of our church. He used us as a separate group one Sunday when we were led by the Holy Spirit to pray around our Pastor at the altar…what a blessing for us and him too! Many of our ladies are in their “upper years” and it’s hard for them to do much physical activity, but boy can they pray!!

  2. Nothing makes a widow feel alive and useful as when she is giving of herself.
Our group has made quilts for the wounded at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, made baby hats for a local adoption agency, make prayer cloths for the ill and we are now earning money by having bakesales for Wounded Warrior Project. Fun times include bowling, photo contests, crafts and trips to buy supplies for our projects. We also donate to our Teen Ministry and Kids Church….lots of love all around!

  3. Hi! As a widow 2 times around now, YES it is good to feel useful as we feel as our insides are being scraped out!!! And our purpose for living is gone! It is HE WHO IS our Husband now JESUS and we are in constant dialog with HIM! SO it is good to feel we can give back,to the world,as our has fallen apart! Just a word of caution from someone who is doing her 2nd tour of this thing called widowhood! Do not think you can stay soooooo busy you won’t have to think, and therefore not have to grieve! My Lord has reminded me there is only one way! THRU GRIEF not AROUND it,so be patient with yourself and FEEL the pain,as you will Heal quicker. AND YES THERE WILL be a RAINBOW AFTER THIS STORM!!! Been there done this, now I cannot say the rainbow will look like you invision it! It is HIS PLAN< HIS RAINBOW! But I can assure you it will be the BEST Rainbow (future) that you can have if you stay in HIS PRESENCE THE WHOLE WAY THRU!
Blessings fellow widows, would love to hear from others…. K

  4. I seemed to have lost my appetite since Richard passed. I eat smaller meals and often skip. Have you ladies had a tough time cooking meals for yourself too? Do you have any good recipes or ideas to share? Feel free to post them here. Looking forward to hearing your creative ideas.
